Dear Reader ; (You know who you are !) Somewhere at some recent time , perhaps due to Mr.Clinton's attempt to evade reality , truth , or that size matters , we began to see the rule of law diminish . Now it has been twisted , torn, emasculated , and downright flushed ! Illegal had always referred to breaking some law . It seems t hat it now has more reference to a sick bird .(Although looking at it in an odd angle , one might notice the ol` eagle has developed optical problems and an acute cough .) Ignorance of the law was never a legal argument or excuse . As we see now , outright disregard is an acceptable position of people sworn to uphold the laws . Working hard has become a legal argument and issue instead of a social one . I have no doubt that the illegal aliens that are criminals work very hard at their chosen fields as well ! Those who have chosen to follow the legal route , must wonder why they took the time , effort , cost and such , when the backstroke , hike , or run is so much easier ! It also affords them the pity they would need for succor and political grandstanding ! It is so often heard ,"They do work others won't do !". This is true to the extent they work at lower pay and take jobs from our legal citizens . One also must ponder , if they live in squalor built by themselves , then why should we conclude they have the knowledge to facilitate construction here ? How does one light bulb give understanding of a whole system ? Does a hole outback really teach one to be a plumber ? Even if they've qualified to do these and more , don't we need to know who they are ? Our cities, states and nation are paying a high cost for such low cost work . Education ,medical expenses and new varities of disease, prison enlargement , gang violence , drug muleing , government documentation in Spanish and eventually others , lack of insurance for autos etc. ,and even simple graffitti are just some of the things being given for the lower cost of labor ! As one of Irish heritage I am aware we have a few who sneak in . They too must find the legal path to "come on in" . And now as is well known , "An Irishman is never completely at peace except when he's fighting ." The bell has rung and I must lay down the shillelagh till the next one . A dram of Guinness and Bushmill's awaits ! Don
